ABA Tutor - Primary
NewhamNorth East London£90 - £100 per day
ABA Tutor - MS Primary - Newham
Do you have experience supporting children with autism?
Are you passionate about helping children reach their full potential?
Would you like to work in a friendly and supportive school?
If so, then we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at a brand new small school based in Newham.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA)/ABA Tutor to join our team and provide one-to-one support to a lovely Year 2 boy with autism. This is a full time position, working in a mainstream classroom setting, starting in January and running until the end of the academic year in July. There is a possibility of the position extending beyond July.
About the School
This Primary school is a relatively new, small and growing school located in Stratford, near the border of Tower Hamlets. It is part of a larger trust that can offer a warm and welcoming environment for our pupils and staff.
About the Student
The student you will be supporting is a very sweet and engaging child who enjoys learning. He responds well to routines, is eager to participate in classroom activities and has a particular interest in learning facts and numbers. He can talk but can be quiet and chooses not to speak very much. He has some difficulties with social interaction and applying his knowledge in different contexts, which is where your expertise will be invaluable. He has received private ABA therapy throughout his time at the school and will be transitioning to receiving this support within the school setting.
About You
You will be an experienced LSA with a proven track record of supporting children with autism in a mainstream setting. You will have a good understanding of ABA principles and techniques and be confident in implementing these to support the student's learning and development. If you do not have ABA training, you must be willing to undertake it, as the Local Authority believe it to be quick and easy.
You will be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be able to build positive relationships with the student, his parents, the class teacher, and other staff members. As the School is a small school with limited staff and resources, you must be confident in your ability to work independently and use your initiative.
You will need to be able to communicate effectively with her and build a strong and positive relationship with the child's mother.
