The successful candidate will work with the head of the ARP and others within the school to support students with EHCPs – with their additional resource provision specialising in Autism, with most students being verbal and some having complex needs.
They are looking for someone to join the team in January 2025, potentially with a short period of time where they will take over from the existing SENCO. We are working with a fantastic SEN College to find someone to be a HLTA working ages 16 to 25 with a diagnosis of Autism. Within this role, you will work as a leading part of a TA Team, being a guiding member of the team who will occasionally cover classes if needed with teams of TAs who will work closely with each individual student, meaning management skills will be vital. These lessons are based around the curriculum which is divided into pathways such as employability, relationships and personal health and would see the students going out one day of the week to learn using the local community.
You will manage TAs, support students, cover classes all whilst being provided with training and working as part of a team which feels like a family. Management is very supportive of staff, and the school also has a therapist team who will work with the students throughout the day alongside other staff. Training is provided by the college via their team and external training providers as well as by employers for students who would be doing volunteering or once a week work via local organisations, charities and community groups.
