We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a vibrant outstanding mainstream primary school in Plaistow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with additional needs, supporting their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on all SEN provision, ensuring that children with additional needs receive the best possible support.
Manage the SEN register and oversee the creation and implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Liaise with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to SEN support.
Oversee all SEN-related administration, ensuring that records and processes are kept up-to-date.
Provide guidance and support to teaching and support staff to enhance SEN provision across the school.
Requirements:
SENCO qualification (essential).
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and experience managing EHCPs.
Excellent organizational skills with experience in SEN administration.
A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting children with special educational needs.
Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

The School
I'm supporting an Outstanding Primary School in Plaistow that are looking for x4 LSA's to support their SEND provision, there are 7 students in this class displaying complex needs, autism, speech and language difficulties and behaviour challenges such as social, emotional and mental health. It is a very supportive set up with a class teacher, SENCo as well as SALTs and Educational Psychologists on site and all children have an EHCP in place.
Work Experience:
I will be interested in candidates with the following experience on their cv;
Experience with Primary aged children
Experience with SEND such as ASC, SLCN and SEMH
Previously worked 1:1 or 2:1 with children that display these needs
De-Escalation or Positive Behaviour Training is desired.
BA or MSc in Primary Education, Psychology, Counselling
Knowledge of PECs, Makaton, EHCPs and safeguarding policies.
These roles are long term therefore I will only consider candidates that can commit to the end of the academic year or looking to go temp2perm.

What to expect as a SEN Teacher:

Experience teaching pupils with SEN, although we welcome applications from qualified teachers currently working in mainstream schools, looking to work in the SEN field
To contribute towards the implementation of EHCPs as detailed in the current Code of Practice, particularly the planning and recording of appropriate actions and outcomes related to set targets
Previous experience teaching primary would be highly valued for this role
