I am working with a friendly and supportive school in Kingston Upon Thames to support students with Autism and Severe to Profound Learning Difficulties (SLD / PMLD). In this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will be working alongside various professionals in a bespoke building with a range of sensory rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and therapists. You will support students with various activities that promote mobility and sensory needs.
SEN Teaching Assistant's main responsibilities:
Providing support to students with Autism/ASC, complex needs, severe learning difficulties, profound multiple learning difficulties, and medical needs in their academic and personal development
Assisting students with limited mobility, including those who use wheelchairs, in accessing the school environment and participating in classroom activities
Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
Implementing personalised curriculum and behaviour management strategies for students
Supporting students in developing their communication, social, and life skills
Assisting with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and medication administration as required
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
Ideally, have experience working with children and young people with Autism/ASC and complex needs, preferably in an educational or care setting
Ideally, have knowledge and experience in supporting students with physical disabilities and mobility issues, including wheelchair users
May have worked as a care worker or care assistant
May have relevant qualifications and/or degrees such as Health and Social Care, Psychology, Criminology, or Nursing
Aspiring educational psychologists, therapists, or educators
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward supporting students with diverse needs

Pay

The Role:
