The School:
I am working with a special school in Newham that is part of a larger trust and they will be looking for a SLD Teacher for their PMLD site from January 2025. This particular school caters for children with PMLD, SLD, sensory and medical needs.
The role:
Working as an SLD Teacher you will be responsible for a small class of students that have severe learning difficulties, you will be required to adapt your lessons plans to cater for their needs as well as report any developments and progression that happens, I will be looking for candidates with the following experience:
QTS is essential
Experience working with children with severe learning difficulties, PMLD or other SEN needs within a school setting
Special school experience preferred
Experience working with children with medical needs and/or physical needs
Worked closely with SENCo in a previous role
The person:
You must be adaptable, flexible and open minded to something different every day, you will be supporting children with complex needs and this requires a lot of patience, understanding and empathy.

A special school based in Newham are expanding their school with their focal point on autism, complex needs and behaviour challenges, a mix of primary & secondary classes and they will need new teachers for each class.
The school boasts a brand new building in the heart of Newham, Plaistow with access to sensory is currently on a temporary site with a new permanent building being built and expected to be complete come 2026 meaning you will be part of the journey and experience with them!
Working as part of the team means you will have on-going support, clear pathways and extra training courses always on hand to make sure you are delivering the most supportive and inclusive learning to your class. With interviews scheduled for end of April or beginning of May I'm looking to speak with individuals sooner rather than later!
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality teaching and support to students with SEN.
Create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Address the diverse and complex needs of students, including behavioral and personal care requirements.
Collaborate with other staff members and contribute to the overall development of the school.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, or proof of awaiting QTS (for example, if you have come from overseas).
Experience: A background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is highly desirable, particularly with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) or SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).
Qualities: A passion for working with students with SEN, patience, and a positive attitude.
Training: Knowledge of positive handling techniques and autism awareness is beneficial. Training in supporting personal hygiene needs is also advantageous.

About Us:
I am working closely with an Outstanding mainstream primary school in Plaistow that is committed to supporting the diverse needs of their students. I am seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team to run and develop their inclusion class you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to pupils with special educational needs (SEN). The curriculum and planning are ready, but I am looking for the right person to deliver it effectively and inspire the students to achieve their full potential.
The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will work primarily with students who have additional learning needs, such as mild learning difficulties, autism, behaviour, sensory and speech needs as well as global delay; adapting and delivering the existing curriculum to ensure it meets each student’s unique requirements. There are 7 students in this class and 6 TAs that you will be expected to instruct to deliver the best support to the children they're working with. You will also collaborate closely with the SENCO, SALTs, EPs and OTs and other staff members to create a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
This is a fantastic role for a candidate that is looking to develop and progress into potential leadership duties as well as build the best SEN environment for the students.
All children have EHCPs in place.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring that each child’s learning goals are met.
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, TAs, and other staff to develop and implement strategies that support student progress and inclusion.
Differentiate and adapt existing lesson plans and resources to suit individual student needs.
Assess, track, and monitor students' progress, maintaining accurate records and adapting plans as required.
Foster a nurturing, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes self-confidence and a love of learning in all pupils.
Contribute to school-wide SEN initiatives, share best practices, and engage in continuous professional development.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience working with children with SEN, particularly within a special school setting.
Ability to work collaboratively with SENCOs, TAs, and other colleagues to create and deliver high-quality learning experiences.
Strong understanding of differentiated teaching methods and experience adapting mainstream curriculum content for SEN learners.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students and liaise effectively with colleagues and parents.
