About the Role
SEN Learning Support Assistant – Special School - Newham
Location: Newham
Contract Type: Full-Time, long term contract
Salary: £450 - £500 per week PAYE

Parker Smith Inclusion are working with a special school which is part of a larger trust and they are seeking SEN Learning Support Assistants to join the dynamic and supportive team. The specialist provision is dedicated to helping young learners develop core skills, communication, and independence, laying the foundation for successful early school experiences.
About the School
- Specialist Classrooms: Large, adaptable, low-arousal learning spaces tailored to meet a range of student needs.
- Outdoor Sensory Play Area: Equipped with sunken trampolines, swing areas, and spinning play equipment to support sensory regulation and engagement.
- Focus on Independence: A curriculum designed to promote communication, confidence, and autonomy in every student.
Your Role
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide targeted support to students with autism, helping them access learning and develop key skills.
- Assist in creating a calm and nurturing environment that supports individual sensory and communication needs.
- Facilitate engaging activities using the provision’s excellent indoor and outdoor facilities.
- Collaborate with teachers and therapists to deliver individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Support students’ personal development and independence through structured and play-based learning.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Previous experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is essential.
- Skills: A compassionate, proactive approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to support sensory-based interventions and outdoor activities.
- Knowledge: Understanding of autism and strategies to support sensory and communication needs is an advantage.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
