About the Role

We are seeking a Specialist SEN Teacher to join my schools in Newham from January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of children with SEN.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Use innovative strategies to support children with Autism, sensory needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Manage and support dysregulated behaviours with a calm and consistent approach, employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s learning.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil progress and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to regular reviews and reports.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience working with children with a range of SEN, including Autism, dysregulated behaviour, sensory needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • A strong understanding of SEN frameworks, including EHCPs and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills with a compassionate and proactive approach.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
