Role and Responsibilities:

As an SLCN Specialist TA or HLTA, you will:

  • Support students with Speech, Communication, and Language Needs across various age groups.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to develop and implement tailored communication strategies and interventions.
  • Deliver small group and 1:1 sessions focused on language development, social communication, and comprehension skills.
  • Assist in creating a stimulating, inclusive learning environment that fosters progress and builds student confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with external professionals, such as Speech and Language Therapists, to align strategies and monitor progress.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience supporting children with SLCN, ideally in a school setting.
  • An understanding of effective SLCN strategies and a toolkit of techniques for promoting language development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a proactive attitude in supporting a diverse range of students.
  • TA/HLTA qualifications, or relevant SLCN experience within education (HLTA status is an advantage).
