About the Role
SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Peckham, London Borough of Southwark, South East London
Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 9am - 4pm (term time only)
£450 - £475 PAYE per week | Potential for Permanent Position
Parker Smith Inclusion is thrilled to partner with an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ SEN school in Peckham, offering a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is perfect for someone passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs.
The school provides a creative, therapeutic, and supportive environment for children aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), learning difficulties, and Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN). Some students are non-verbal, and others require mobility support or use wheelchairs. The school boasts excellent facilities, such as a hydrotherapy pool, to help support both physical and emotional development.
What’s it like to be a SEN Teaching Assistant?
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your day will be varied and rewarding. You’ll offer hands-on support to students, assisting them in engaging with learning activities and ensuring their comfort throughout the day. Your responsibilities may include helping with personal care, feeding, and participating in hydrotherapy sessions. Patience, empathy, and good communication are key, but most importantly, you’ll leave each day knowing you've made a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Role Details:
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm (term time only)
- Support students with activities such as hydrotherapy, feeding, and personal care
- Work collaboratively within a dedicated and supportive team
- Weekly pay of £450 - £475 (PAYE), with the potential for a permanent position
What We’re Looking For:
- A positive, proactive SEN Teaching Assistant with excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable supporting students with physical needs, including swimming and personal care
- No previous SEN experience necessary—training and support will be provided for the right candidate
