SEN Teacher – Mainstream Primary School, Plaistow - Inclusion Class
Position: SEN Teacher
Location: Mainstream Primary School, Plaistow, London
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent or Temp2Perm after 2 terms.
Salary: £44,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Start Date: January 2025
About Us:
I am working closely with an Outstanding mainstream primary school in Plaistow that is committed to supporting the diverse needs of their students. I am seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team to run and develop their inclusion class you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education to pupils with special educational needs (SEN). The curriculum and planning are ready, but I am looking for the right person to deliver it effectively and inspire the students to achieve their full potential.
The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will work primarily with students who have additional learning needs, such as mild learning difficulties, autism, behaviour, sensory and speech needs as well as global delay; adapting and delivering the existing curriculum to ensure it meets each student’s unique requirements. There are 7 students in this class and 6 TAs that you will be expected to instruct to deliver the best support to the children they're working with. You will also collaborate closely with the SENCO, SALTs, EPs and OTs and other staff members to create a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
This is a fantastic role for a candidate that is looking to develop and progress into potential leadership duties as well as build the best SEN environment for the students.
All children have EHCPs in place.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring that each child’s learning goals are met.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO, TAs, and other staff to develop and implement strategies that support student progress and inclusion.
- Differentiate and adapt existing lesson plans and resources to suit individual student needs.
- Assess, track, and monitor students' progress, maintaining accurate records and adapting plans as required.
- Foster a nurturing, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes self-confidence and a love of learning in all pupils.
- Contribute to school-wide SEN initiatives, share best practices, and engage in continuous professional development.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience working with children with SEN, particularly within a special school setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with SENCOs, TAs, and other colleagues to create and deliver high-quality learning experiences.
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching methods and experience adapting mainstream curriculum content for SEN learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students and liaise effectively with colleagues and parents.
