About the Role

SEN Teacher - Newham - September 2025 - Special School 

Location: London Borough of Newham

Salary: £35,000 - £48,000 
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Full-Time (Term Time Only)

Are you a passionate and dedicated educator looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive team at a specialist school in the London Borough of Newham.

About the Role: As an SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored education and support to children with a range of needs, including:

  • Learning Difficulties

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Behavioural Challenges

  • Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

  • Speech and Language Needs

You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to create and deliver individualised learning plans, ensuring that every child reaches their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of SEN pupils.

  • Assess, track, and report on the progress and development of students, adapting strategies to support their individual learning goals.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social, emotional, and academic growth.

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to implement holistic support plans.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure consistent support for each child.

About You: To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Proven experience working with children with SEN in a school setting.

  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies, including behaviour management, autism-friendly practices, and communication methods such as Makaton or PECS.

  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to teaching and supporting children with diverse needs.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
