About the Role

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant | Outstanding Mainstream School | Newham

Location: Newham, East London
Start Date: After February Half Term
Salary: £100 - £120 per day
Contract: Long-term, Full-time (Monday – Friday)

I'm supporting a school in Newham that are offering an exciting opportunity to work in their school that is based on 25 acres of land and has an autism provision with access to speech & language therapists and other SEN professionals. This is an amazing opportunity for experienced or inexperienced candidates to kick start their career within SEN Education.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to secondary students with SEN to help them access the curriculum.
  • Assist in creating a structured, professional, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored support strategies.
  • Support students with ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties in both academic and personal development.
  • Be a positive role model, maintaining a polite, professional, and proactive approach at all times.

Requirements:

  • GCSEs (A-C), A-Levels, or a University Degree – Essential
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEN (school-based or transferable personal experience).
  • A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a desire to develop professionally.
  • Resilient, patient, and confident in working with young people.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time, long-term role .

We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) that is based within central London. The school has a primary and secondary site and is looking for experienced behavioural mentors to join both of their sites in September.
