About the Role

Do you have a passion and talent for supporting children and young people with additional learning needs and mental health disorders?
Are you keen to make a difference to the lives of children and young people whilst building your experience and furthering your career in SEND/SEMH?
I am working with a Croydon based specialist SEMH therapeutic school who are looking for an engaging and passionate Therapeutic Learning Mentor. The children attending this school will have a SEN diagnosis, EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) usually with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). I am looking to speak to professional and committed Therapeutic Learning Mentors even if your experience is informal/voluntary, we want to hear from you!
Therapeutic Learning Mentor requirements
- Essential - Passion for working with young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development
- Beneficial - Experience of working with SEMH, trauma, sensory processing, social communication, ACE (adverse childhood experiences), toxic stress
- Beneficial - Youth Mentor/Worker experience
- Essential - Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships
What you can expect as a Therapeutic Learning Mentor
- Therapeutic Learning Mentor roles will vary from day to day, you will be expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations
- For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Play/Art/Music Therapists, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path
- Continued Professional Development - SEND schools and APs are continually training their staff to help them support their children's needs, you will become an expert in your field
- You will have an opportunity to make a huge social impact, as a Behaviour Mentor you could change the path of someone’s life!
Pay
- PAYE only. Quoted rates are gross pay and your pay will never involve employer's NI deductions or admin fees.
