About the Role:
This exciting role involves working with two reception-aged children and two year-one children, all of whom are autistic. Two of the children are non-verbal, and two have limited verbal communication. You will be responsible for providing tailored support to meet their individual needs, using a variety of communication tools and strategies, including Makaton. The goal is to help these children eventually integrate into mainstream reception classes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualised learning plans, taking into account each child's specific needs and communication styles.
Work collaboratively with the classroom teachers and pupil achievement coaches (PACs) to ensure a consistent and integrated approach.
Create a positive and stimulating learning environment that fosters the children's development and well-being.
Provide personal care support as needed.
About You:
You have extensive experience working with autistic children, particularly those with limited verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
You possess a deep understanding of different communication approaches and are proficient in using Makaton.
You are skilled in developing and implementing individualised learning plans.
You are a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, and you have a patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
Ideally, you have experience leading a nursery or similar early years setting, and hold an HLTA qualification or are willing to work towards it.

Role Overview
As a HLTA, you will:
Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

Cover lessons in the rare absence of the class teacher. (No long term sickness cover)

Are you a SENCO looking for a rewarding position within a School?
I am looking for a Qualified SENCO to fill a position within a fantastic SEND School with an Autism ARP. The successful candidate will work with the head of the ARP and others within the school to support students with EHCPs – with their additional resource provision specialising in Autism, with most students being verbal and some having complex needs.
They are looking for someone to join the team in January 2025, potentially with a short period of time where they will take over from the existing SENCO. The school is extremely supportive of staff with management which truly takes the time to get to know their staff and ensure they are happy. Additionally, the school has a lovely family aura to the team, a bright happy environment and students that are truly amazing.
Duties include:
Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
Being responsible for the coordination of all therapies, including liaison with therapists, referrals and review of impact
Delivering training and intervention in the communication and sensory provision
Coordinating the annual review process
Contributing to whole school safeguarding coordination through their role as DDSL
Arranging EHCP applications and amendments if necessary
The SENCO will also be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher
