Qualified Teacher - Pupil Referral Unit

Are you a teacher in a challenging environment to lead a class within a PRU?
We are looking for qualified teachers to teach in Pupil Referral Unit’s across Haringey. The students at the PRU School have been removed from mainstream education and may show challenging behaviour, meaning the applicant must be okay with this and keep control in a disruptive environment. The successful applicants will be supported by SEN Teaching Assistants and Behaviour Mentors who will aid the teacher however possible within the class.
Requirements of a PRU Teacher:
SEN qualifications or experience
To work and support students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health and Challenging behaviour
To observe, assess and support students referred to the school from mainstream schools and to set strategies and behaviour targets based on reports and observations.
To work alongside Management, SENCO’s and other faculty
To be prepared to offer advice to parents and work with them to support their child.

You will work with the school's multidisciplinary therapy team to ensure the best holistic development possible. You will have the ability to create interactive, therapeutic, and meaningful lessons, helping children reach their full potential.
Requirements for Special Educational Needs Teacher:
To work as a Special Educational Needs Teacher, you will ideally hold QTS or QTLS or have relevant experience as a teacher. Solid experience working with highly vulnerable children, pupils with a diagnosis of Autism/Asperger’s, challenging behaviours, and anxiety disorders is beneficial but we want to hear from ALL teachers. If you are interested in a teaching approach that is holistic and therapeutic but don’t necessarily have this experience yet, please still enquire.

We are working with PRU (Pupil Referral Unit's) based in Waltham Forest that are seeking passionate and resilient behaviour mentors to join their experienced team. The school offers education to students in primary through to secondary who may be on a short-term or longer-term placement as they are not able to attend mainstream education. This will be due to their challenging behaviour, social, emotional and mental health needs and can be other additional needs.
PRU Behaviour Mentor role;

Class sizes will be no more than 6 students
Working 1:1 and within small groups
Supporting young people with their learning needs
Building strong and meaningful relationships
