I am interested in speaking to qualified English Teachers in South West London who have a passion for working with vulnerable children with Autism / ASC and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). This is a long-term to permanent position starting in September. This is an Autism specialist school, and they very supportive and care about everyone's wellbeing. About the Role of English Teacher
As an English Teacher based in this highly complex setting, you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons for small groups of 4 to 6 children. Working as an English Teacher requires a holistic approach, focusing on the whole child, academic development is only possible when you address the primary need first. You will work with the school's multidisciplinary therapy team, helping students find ways to do the things they need and want to do. This opportunity will suit a teacher who has a passion and natural ability to engage pupils with Autism and behavioural challenges and those with a strong classroom presence. You will engage the children and young people within the school in innovative, therapeutic, and meaningful activities, supporting them in learning to help them reach their full potential. The school values pupil progress, and it is a positive and safe learning environment where staff morale is high.
Requirements for English Teacher
Must have QTS or QTLS
Must have relevant PGCE or Teaching Degree
Have experience teaching English (please note this refers to English literacy & language - not EFL, ESOL or EAL teaching)
Have experience teaching children with Autism/ASC, ADHD, and associated learning difficulties
Have strong behaviour management skills
