The role I am looking for inspirational Teaching Assistants with a love and passion for working with children with special educational needs. This is a special needs school, and as such, the school have adopted a creative approach, with lots of play based activities, to stimulate learning and ensure all children have the ability to break down barriers to their education. Lessons are constructed based on a variety of topics; Some children have a main focus on functional communication and independence skills, whilst others strive to ensure the highest academic qualifications to allow them to access mainstream courses at college You’re role, an SEN Teaching Assistant, is to support learners both inside and outside of the classroom. You should be encouraging, inspiring and an all round positive role model! Working in SEN can bring with it some challenging behaviour, therefore, it is important that the successful SEN Teaching Assistant is resilient and understanding as to why these challenges may occur. It is also important that the successful SEN Teaching Assistant is comfortable with personal care. Some students will require assistance with toileting and changing. The role I am looking for a wonderful, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a school based in Harold Wood. This is a mainstream primary school with an excellent reputation for providing fantastic education to young people, and also taking great care of their staff! This school has fantastic facilities, especially for their children with SEN. There are many breakout spaces in the school to support group learning and interventions. This is a 1:1 role, supporting a child with a diagnosis of Autism. This child has communication needs and can sometimes present with challenging behaviour. I am looking for someone resilient and ready to take on a rewarding role! Your day to day role would be working on a 1:1 basis, within the main classroom, ensuring the child can understand the work they are being given, and help overcome any barriers that they may face to their learning. The school also have specialist support staff (e.g. Speech and language) who will be able to offer training on these specialist areas. This school is also fantastic at supporting Teaching Assistants that wish you pursue a career in teaching.
