A special school based in Newham are expanding their school come September by four new classes with their focal point on autism, complex needs and behaviour challenges, a mix of primary & secondary classes and they will need new teachers for each class. 

The school is currently on a temporary site with a new permanent building being built and expected to be complete come 2026 meaning you will be part of the journey and experience with them! 

Working as part of the team means you will have on-going support, clear pathways and extra training courses always on hand to make sure you are delivering the most supportive and inclusive learning to your class. With interviews scheduled for end of April or beginning of May I'm looking to speak with individuals sooner rather than later! 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality teaching and support to students with SEN.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Address the diverse and complex needs of students, including behavioral and personal care requirements.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and contribute to the overall development of the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, or proof of awaiting QTS (for example, if you have come from overseas).
  • Experience: A background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is highly desirable, particularly with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) or SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).
  • Qualities: A passion for working with students with SEN, patience, and a positive attitude.
  • Training: Knowledge of positive handling techniques and autism awareness is beneficial. Training in supporting personal hygiene needs is also advantageous.

The school is currently on a temporary site with a new permanent building being built and expected to be complete come 2026 meaning you will be part of the journey and experience with them! Working as part of the team means you will have on-going support, clear pathways, opportunities for teacher training pathways and extra training courses always on hand to make sure you are supporting and meeting the needs of each student in the most inclusive way. They are seeking SEN teachers to support and teach their KS3 students. They cater for students with SEN and many will have additional needs including ASD, SLCN, ADHD and severe social anxieties. As a SEN Teacher based in this highly complex setting, you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons for small groups of 4 to 8 children.
