Are you a qualified teacher who truly believes that children with SEMH needs deserve the very best education possible?

Are you a SEN Teacher who has experience with dysregulated behaviour and supporting children with their mental health within a classroom setting?

I am currently working with a fantastic school in the London Borough of Lewisham who are now seeking an SEMH Teacher to join their wonderful team.  The school caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural and mental health challenges, and require a specialised, individual and highly supportive approach to learning. We work alongside schools that educate children and young people who for many reasons cannot access any other formal educational settings – these are the most vulnerable, at risk and hard to reach in our community. The school are keenly aware of the challenges that can and do impact on today’s young people. Understanding the pupil’s SEMH needs is essential in this role so the children are encouraged to reach their full learning potential, and we are seeking individuals who can make a positive impact.

What to expect working as an SEMH Teacher:  

  • A highly supportive team dedicated to assisting students back into mainstream learning.
  • Able to teach Maths, English ,Science 
  • Trauma informed
  • Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies would be a huge bonus for this role
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a consistent and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
  • The opportunity to have a hugely positive impact working to support children who require strong positive encouragement consistently to support learning
  • The passion to teach and inspire young people during a crucial stage of their personal and academic development.

Although experience teaching in SEMH specialist settings/PRU/Alternative Provision is beneficial I would also love to hear from individuals who are interested in taking their first steps into SEND settings.
