Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with complex needs, including autism and physical disabilities.
Assist students with both verbal and non-verbal communication needs.
Support students with personal care as required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Help manage behavioural challenges in a calm and proactive manner, in line with the school's policies.
Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure each child receives the appropriate care and education.
Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young adults with complex needs, including autism, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
A strong understanding of supporting students with both verbal and non-verbal communication.
Willingness to carry out personal care duties, ensuring a dignified approach.
A patient, empathetic, and flexible attitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with other professionals, staff, and parents.
Commitment to working 5 days per week.

A specialist setting based in Southend needs a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with primary school students with learning difficulties, Autism, and ADHD. This pupil needs a resilient and robust SEN Teaching Assistant to support their learning and development at school.
Pupil needs are high, and having an understanding and empathy for students struggling with their mental health is an essential quality for this role. Similarly, to have an appreciation for the ways in which students may express their needs through physically aggressive or verbally abusive behaviour is vital.
