About the Role
Parker Smith is thrilled to be working with a welcoming, all-through school in Thurrock, known for its inclusive approach to education. We’re currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team on a full-time, 5-day-a-week, temp-to-perm basis. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs and keen to make a positive impact across the primary and secondary phases.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), and other forms of dysregulated behaviour. Working across Key Stages 1 to 4, you’ll help ensure each student has the tools and support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Your specific focus within these year groups will be determined based on your experience and the school’s current needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1:1 and Small Group Support: Work directly with students in need of additional support, either one-on-one or in small group settings, tailoring your approach to suit individual needs and goals.
- Behavioural and Emotional Support: Implement strategies to manage and support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development in line with the school’s supportive ethos.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with classroom teachers, SEN coordinators, and other LSAs to develop and implement effective support plans that align with each student’s needs.
- Creating a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere that enables students to engage positively with learning.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience with SEN Needs: Prior experience working with children or young people with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or behavioural needs is essential.
- Patience and Compassion: You bring a calm, empathetic, and understanding approach to your work, with the flexibility to adapt to different student needs and situations.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families, contributing positively to a cohesive support team.
