About the Role
SEN Teacher – Autism Provision (MS Primary School) – Newham
Start Date: Easter or September 2025
Pay rate: MPS/Inner London
Permanent or temp2perm after two terms
Are you an experienced and passionate SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding role? Parker Smith Inclusion are working with a MS Primary School that will be seeking a dedicated teacher to join their mainstream primary school’s Autism Provision in the London Borough of Newham. This full-time position requires a skilled practitioner with expertise in supporting children with Autism, speech and language needs, and behaviours that challenge.
About the Role:
- Teaching within a specialist Autism Provision in a mainstream primary school.
- Supporting pupils with Autism, including both verbal and non-verbal learners.
- Working closely with Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) and other professionals to support communication development
- Implementing structured teaching approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, and Makaton to enhance learning and communication
- Managing and supporting pupils with behaviour that challenges, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies
- Differentiating lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities
What We’re Looking For:
- A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with proven experience in an SEN setting or SEN class
- Experience supporting children with Autism (verbal and non-verbal) and a deep understanding of their learning needs
- Knowledge of Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) and strategies to support language development
- Experience managing and supporting behaviour that challenges, using positive behaviour management techniques
- The ability to work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and support staff to deliver tailored interventions
- A flexible, patient, and resilient approach to teaching, with a commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment

Working closely with teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive and positive learning environment
Requirements:
Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role
Knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and safety procedures

The preferred person will be bursting with enthusiasm and real passion to support children with special education needs. We are looking for someone who is friendly and patient, and is able to build and maintain strong relationships with the children. Do you have a passion and talent for supporting children and young people with behavioural and social emotional and mental health needs?
We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) that is based within central London. The school has a primary and secondary site and is looking for experienced behavioural mentors to join both of their sites in September. Suitable candidates must have experience supporting young people. You must be resilient, understanding and confident in supporting young people with behavioural and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
Even if your experience is informal/voluntary, I want to hear from you! The children you will support will have a variety of needs which can include significant complex behaviour challenges and sometimes associated SEND.
PRU Behaviour Mentor requirements:
● Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH
●Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor / Youth Worker experience / Behaviour Mentor
