SEN Teaching Assistant
PERMANENT CONTRACT *** TERM TIME ONLY with 13 WEEKS HOLIDAY ***

£22,607 per annum
Monday to Friday, 9AM - 4PM - 32.5 Working Hours

We are working closely with a beautiful SEN school in the vibrant London Borough of Southwark. We are looking for passionate individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of our students aged 11-19 with Autism/ASC, complex needs, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and medical needs. Some students have limited mobility and use wheelchairs, so experience supporting students with physical disabilities is highly desirable.

You will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing exceptional care and education to students. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' individual needs, including academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
SEN Teaching Assistant's main responsibilities:

Providing support to students with Autism/ASC, complex needs, severe learning difficulties, profound multiple learning difficulties, and medical needs, in their academic and personal development

Assisting students with limited mobility, including those who use wheelchairs, in accessing the school environment and participating in classroom activities

Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment

Implementing personalised curriculum and behaviour management strategies for students

Supporting students in developing their communication, social, and life skills

Assisting with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and medication administration as required
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
-
Ideally have experience working with children and young people with Autism/ASC and complex needs, preferably in an educational or care setting

Ideally have knowledge and experience in supporting students with physical disabilities and mobility issues, including wheelchair users

May have worked as a care worker or care assistant

May have relevant qualifications and/or degrees such as Health and Social Care, Psychology, Criminology, or Nursing

Aspiring educational psychologists, therapists, or educators

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents

Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward supporting students with diverse needs
