Are you looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant position for September 2025?
We are working with a SEND School in Ealing who are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11 - 18 who require specialist support in the class, these students may have a diagnosis of Autism, Downs' Syndrome, Physical Disability, Complex Needs and Global Developmental Delay.
You will gain fantastic training and certifications for your own professional development. In addition to training, this role also provides various pathways for your career, with you working closely with social workers, therapists, teachers and other professionals.
This can help should you wish to go down these career paths or consider working in another role within education, such as an HLTA, Teacher or SENCo later in your career.
What to expect as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Integrating the creative arts into the curriculum such as music, art, drama and dance
- As an Autism Specialist, you will participate in a wide range of activities to promote the pupils' cognitive, cultural, social, physical, and emotional well-being.
- You must work alongside the teacher to create lesson plans and deliver learning activities
- You must monitor how the children are developing and set targets for them to reach
- Work alongside different professionals, including Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists.
The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Has a personal interest in working with young people with Autism and associated learning difficulties
- Already has some experience working with children with SEND
- The ideal Autism Support Worker will be able to build strong and meaningful relationships with staff and students
- Perhaps you are a recent Graduate and you are looking to kickstart your career in an SEND School setting
- The ideal Autism Specialist will have a positive, patient, and proactive personality type with a desire to learn.
