About Us:
Parker Smith Inclusion are working with a secondary school with a college that is a forward-thinking, digital-led college that provides a unique learning environment for students aged 13-18 through three interconnected entities: a school for 13–16-year-olds, a sixth form (UT6), and an apprenticeship programmes They are committed to providing an inclusive and engaging education, with a strong focus on digital literacy. They boast modern facilities and supportive atmosphere contribute to a positive learning environment where learners thrive. They are currently expanding and preparing for future growth, and are looking for dedicated individuals to join the team.
The Students:
A diverse student body, including approximately 8% of learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The most common needs include challenges to learning, spectrum areas (such as autism), speech and language needs, and requirements for additional learning time. A small number of learners with emotional and behavioural challenges, the school has excellent attendance and a very low rate of exclusions. This is a digital school so learners will be using laptops to respond to teaching and learning activities.
The Role:
Passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support learners in accessing the curriculum and achieving their full potential. The successful candidate will work with students across a range of needs in a digitally rich environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to learners with SEN, focusing on challenges to learning, spectrum areas, and speech and language needs.
- Assist learners in accessing the curriculum, both in traditional classroom settings and in the digital environment.
- Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
- Support the use of technology, ensuring that all learners can fully engage with digital tools.
- Help to create a supportive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Monitor and record learners’ progress.
- Contribute to the overall well-being of our learners.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with learners with SEN, particularly with challenges to learning, spectrum areas, and speech and language needs.
- A passion for supporting young people in their learning journey.
- Comfortable and confident with technology, and able to assist learners in using digital tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Patient, adaptable, and able to respond to the individual needs of learners.
- A commitment to inclusivity and creating a positive learning environment.
