The role

 

I am looking for a Teaching Assistant seeking a new opportunity to work in a fantastic primary school based in Romford. This school really believes that every young person in the school is part of something inspirational. They really are proud of the achievements of every single pupil and pride themselves as a centre of excellence. The Teaching Assistant role focuses on children in the classroom with special educational needs. This would include working 1:1 and small group work.

Other duties will include assisting with the planning of activities, monitoring pupils’ progress, intervening when necessary, providing relevant feedback to the classroom teacher, and performing general Teaching Assistant duties.  

 

 The ideal candidate

 

The successful Teaching Assistant for this role must have a genuine passion for working with young, vulnerable people. You should be empathetic, kind and keen to learn! If you have previous experience working with SEN, this would be highly beneficial! The Teaching Assistant should be a positive role model and spread positivity! Having the ability to build a good rapport both with young people and the classroom teacher would be most beneficial as good relationships are key to succeed as a Teaching Assistant.

Are you passionate about teaching children with Special Needs? Have you got good experience working with children with different communication needs? The role I am seeking a strong teacher to teach a class in an ARP of a mainstream primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a good background in SEN to showcase their skills and teach a class of 6-8 pupils. All children in the class have a diagnosis of Autism, and some can present with challenging behaviour. The children range across year 3, year 4 and year 6, however, they are working at KS1 level. One child in the class is nonverbal, so it is essential that the Teacher understands why different communication methods are necessary, and can implement some, such as PECs and core boards. Due to children’s needs, sometimes they can present with challenging behaviour. Therefore, it is important that the successful Teacher has a strong background in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques. There are 3 members of support staff assigned to this class, so there is lots of help to help manage this. It is also important that the successful Teacher has experience in planning and assessing children with additional needs so that areas of improvement can be highlighted, which as a result, will allow the children to achieve the best that they can.
