Are you a strong and resilient SEMH TA looking for a challenging and rewarding role in a fantastic secondary school for children with SEMH needs?

Do you have experience helping children with SEMH needs feel calmer and more settled in a school or youth work environment?

I am now working with a fantastic and supportive SEMH secondary school in South London who are seeking an experienced SEN TA. You will be working 1:1 with a pupil who needs support with, challenging behaviour, and help feeling as calm and settled as possible so they are able to learn effectively. This role requires a strong and resilient person who would be a strong role model.

 

Requirements of a SEMH TA

  • Experience with challenging behaviour – this role would really suit someone who has worked in a PRU or SEMH school, has work as a Pastoral Officer in a school, or has experience with challenging behaviour as a Youth Worker.
  • Experience working to support pupils with physically and emotionally challenging behaviour 
  • A resilient personality and an ability to build rapport quickly with staff and students.
  • De-escalation training would be a bonus for this role, however the school do also provide their own specialised de-escalation training 
  • An interest in mental health and seeing behaviour as a form of communication is essential for this role
