Do you have experience working with in a PRU or similar setting?

Here at Parker Smith Inclusion, we are working with an inspiring SEMH Secondary School in the London Borough of Newham. They are looking for SEMH HLTA's. 

 

Requirements of a HLTA

  • Experience with challenging behaviour – this role would really suit someone who has worked in a PRU or SEMH school, has worked as a Pastoral Officer in a school, or has experience with challenging behaviour as a Youth Worker.
  • Experience working to support pupils with physically and emotionally challenging behaviour
  • Experience delivering engaging lessons to students 
  • A resilient personality and an ability to build rapport quickly with staff and students.
  • De-escalation training would be a bonus for this role, however, the school do also provide their own specialised de-escalation training
  • An interest in mental health and seeing behaviour as a form of communication is essential for this role

We are working with a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) based in central London that is seeking passionate and resilient behaviour mentors to join their experienced team. The school offers education to primary and secondary students who may be on a short-term or longer-term placement as they cannot attend mainstream education. This will be due to their challenging behaviour, social, emotional and mental health needs and can be other additional needs. Nurture Support Worker Secondary Newham SEMH/Nurture Setting Immediate Start Are you an empathetic nurturing person wanting to help young people that have experienced trauma? Do you have professional or personal experience working with young people that display social, emotional, mental health needs? Would you say you're a resillent person that can de-escalate situations quickly? A nurture school in Plaistow are in need of a support worker within a nurture group of 8 students, the students have significant SEMH needs and struggle to emotionally regulate, such as impulsive disorders, hyperactivity and poor social communication skills. The young people are taught core lessons on the school site but then go to an outdoor learning venue in Essex, to support them with a different learning style to keep them engaged. (transport is provided via the school) A great candidate for this position would be someone who is active, creative, energetic, patient, and has the ability to understand young people to be able to build trust. It is essential that you also possess the skill set; De-escalation and conflict resolution skills Able to build rapport and trust with young people. Support students to build emotional awareness and literacy skills Support teachers to prepare classroom resources and equipment Experience working with students who demonstrate challenging behaviours.
