About the Role
SEMH HLTA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Newham
Do you have a passion and talent for supporting children and young people who cannot access mainstream education and mental health disorders?
I am actively seeking an engaging and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA to work in a SEMH specialist setting that provides education to children who are unable to be educated in a mainstream school due to their social emotional and mental health needs. I am looking for a HLTA who can deliver the English curriculum to secondary aged students. I am looking to speak to professional and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistants to work in a SEMH setting in the East London area The role is working within the secondary department supporting behaviour and learning in class settings. The role will include an English teaching timetable so previous experience teaching or covering classes is desirable.
The students you will be supporting as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant have difficulty engaging in the main site of the school so are currently being educated at a small pathway provision. The pupils have morning lessons in core subjects and then normally engage in outdoor activities in the afternoon. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will have your own PPA time and be the leader of English curriculum for this site.
HLTA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant requirements:
● Experience of working with young people with SEMH, Autism, behavioural issues, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication
● Ability to plan and deliver English - Higher Level Teaching Assistant experience
● HLTA or Tutor experience - leading small groups -
● Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships
● A passion for working with young people with SEND
