About the role of Special Educational Needs Teacher: As a Special Educational Needs Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons for small classes of children with a primary diagnosis of Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome. Working as a Special Educational Needs Teacher, you will understand that academic development is only possible when you address the primary need first. You will work with the school's multidisciplinary therapy team to ensure the best holistic development possible. These opportunities will suit teachers who have a passion and natural ability to engage children with a SEND diagnosis. You will have the ability to create interactive, therapeutic, and meaningful lessons, helping children reach their full potential. Requirements for Special Educational Needs Teacher: To work as a Special Educational Needs Teacher, you will ideally hold QTS or QTLS or have relevant experience as a teacher. Solid experience working with highly vulnerable children, pupils with a diagnosis of Autism/Asperger’s, challenging behaviours, and anxiety disorders is beneficial but we want to hear from ALL teachers. The students at the PRU School have been removed from mainstream education and may show challenging behaviour, meaning the applicant must be okay with this and keep control in a disruptive environment. The successful applicants will be supported by SEN Teaching Assistants and Behaviour Mentors who will aid the teacher however possible within the class. Requirements of a PRU Teacher: SEN qualifications or experience To work and support students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health and Challenging behaviour To observe, assess and support students referred to the school from mainstream schools and to set strategies and behaviour targets based on reports and observations.
