Mental Health Teaching Assistant | Guildford | Surrey

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with complex needs? Join the team as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant at a specialised SEMH school in Guildford, where you’ll support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and other associated learning difficulties.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work within small class sizes of up to 10 students, alongside 1-2 other Teaching Assistants, to create a safe and supportive environment tailored to each student’s needs.
Role Details:
- Position: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
- Location: Guildford
- Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
- Pay Rate: £90 - £110 per day, depending on experience (paid via PAYE)
Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised support for students with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, and other learning challenges.
- Collaborate closely with other Mental Health Teaching Assistants and teachers to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
- Utilise strong behaviour management skills; Team Teach training is beneficial but not essential.
Requirements:
- Experience in SEN or SEMH settings is an advantage; applicants with personal SEN experience are encouraged to apply.
- Resilience, empathy, and patience to support students who may exhibit verbal and physical aggression.
