1:1 Learning Support Assistant £80 - £85 PAYE Immediate start Are you looking to work in a welcoming and nurturing mainstream primary school? I am working with an outstanding mainstream primary school in Islington who are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their friendly team. The child that the successful candidate will be supporting is in year 1 and has ASD, he also wears a nappy so some personal care is required. The role requires someone who has experience with ASD and can be patient and calming. This 1:1 Learning Support Assistant role would really suit applicants with experience working with children with SEN in a school environment, however the school may consider applicants who personal experience with SEN, or who truly care about having a positive effect on the lives of SEN children. The Role We are looking for experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to work with young adults aged 16 - 25 years with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your primary focus will be supporting the development of life skills, preparing students for independence beyond school, and fostering a positive, engaging learning environment. Key Responsibilities Support students in acquiring essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, travel training, and personal care. Work one-on-one or in small groups to deliver tailored interventions that address specific needs and help students reach their full potential. Assist with planning and delivering lessons that engage and motivate students, incorporating practical, hands-on activities. Create a safe and supportive space for students, encouraging social interaction, building confidence, and helping them manage their emotions effectively. Track and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to individual learning plans. Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s education and well-being.
