Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Enfield 

Salary: £116 - £125 PAYE Per Day 

Contract Type: Long-term - Full-Time Hours

Are you passionate about empowering young people with complex needs? Do you have the skills to support their development and independence, helping them thrive both academically and in everyday life? 

The Role

We are looking for experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to work with young adults aged 16 - 25 years with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your primary focus will be supporting the development of life skills, preparing students for independence beyond school, and fostering a positive, engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in acquiring essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, travel training, and personal care.

  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to deliver tailored interventions that address specific needs and help students reach their full potential.

  • Assist with planning and delivering lessons that engage and motivate students, incorporating practical, hands-on activities.

  • Create a safe and supportive space for students, encouraging social interaction, building confidence, and helping them manage their emotions effectively.

  • Track and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to individual learning plans.

  • Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s education and well-being.

About You

  • Experience working with young people with complex needs, including SEND and SEMH.
  • Passionate about helping students develop independence and practical skills for everyday life.
  • Strong Communication Skills

  • Able to respond to the diverse needs of students and tailor support accordingly.

  • A HLTA qualification or equivalent experience would be desirable but not essential
