About the Role
1:1 Teaching Assistant – Reception (ASC & Learning Difficulties)
Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Mainstream Primary School (Inclusion Class), Newham
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Term time, 8:30 am – 3:20 pm
Interviews: Monday, 4th November
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a little girl in Reception with Autism and learning difficulties at an inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham. This rewarding role involves both personal care and supporting her educational and developmental needs during the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child in Reception with undiagnosed Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and learning difficulties, helping her access the curriculum in a way that suits her needs.
- Assist with personal care, ensuring the child is comfortable and supported throughout the day.
- Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized learning plans.
- Use creativity, patience, and energy to engage the child in activities and support her social and emotional development.
- Spend half the day working 1:1 and the other half supporting other children across the class as needed.
About You:
- Experience in Early Years (EYFS), ideally working with children who have Autism or learning difficulties.
- A proactive, energetic approach and the ability to think on your feet.
- A positive attitude, with a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to the needs of the child.
- Compassionate and nurturing, with a passion for helping young children achieve their full potential.
- Experience with undiagnosed ASC or children with additional needs is highly desirable.
