About the Role
English Teacher – Full-Time, Permanent
September Start – Mole Valley, Surrey
Salary: £22,000 - £48,000 per annum
Some students have spent their whole school lives believing they aren’t good at English. They’ve struggled with reading, lost confidence in writing, and maybe even given up on their own voice. But with the right teacher, the right environment, and the right support, that can all change.
This is where you come in.
A School Built for Change
This specialist school in Mole Valley, Surrey is designed for children with Autism and SEMH—students who have found mainstream education overwhelming or unmanageable. Here, they get the space, structure, and individual support they need to thrive.
Everything in this school has been carefully designed to create a nurturing, calm, and engaging environment for students and staff alike. You’ll have:
- Small class sizes, meaning you can really focus on each student’s progress
- New facilities with high-quality resources to bring learning to life
- Therapists and support staff working alongside you, so you’re never alone in managing challenges
- Specialist spaces, including a multi-sports hall, theatre room, and therapy areas
- Outdoor learning opportunities, with a heated swimming pool and forest school
Teaching English in a Specialist Setting
English lessons here aren’t about pushing through a rigid curriculum. Instead, you’ll have the freedom to adapt your teaching to suit your students. You might be building literacy skills through storytelling, using creative writing to help students express emotions, or breaking texts down into manageable, engaging activities.
The goal isn’t just academic progress—it’s building confidence, communication, and a sense of achievement. Whether it’s a student reading aloud for the first time, writing their first short story, or simply feeling comfortable enough to share their thoughts, those small moments add up to life-changing progress.
If you’re new to SEND, don’t worry. The school provides full SEND training from day one, helping you gain the skills and confidence to make a difference.
A Leadership Team That Invests in You
A supportive team makes all the difference in specialist education. This school’s leadership understands that, which is why they’re committed to helping teachers grow. Whether you want to refine your SEND expertise, develop new teaching strategies, or even progress into leadership, there are ongoing training and career development opportunities to support you.
