Your Role and Responsibilities as a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant:
- Have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN
- Be flexible, proactive, and patient
- Exhibit nurturing and caring qualities in your approaches
- Communicate effectively within a team
- Be open to providing personal care
- The ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant would Possess a background in Education, Care, Psychology, or Drama, as these skills are highly transferable
- Preferably already have training or experience in non-verbal communication (e.g., Makaton, PECS) but with a willingness to learn would be essential.

The school is looking for a number of Learning Support Assistants to join their friendly and supportive team. The school provides holistic and therapeutic education to pupils with Speech, Language & Communication needs (SLCN) needs and other additional needs such as Autism/ASC/ASD.
The role involves:
Supporting primary & secondary children as well as assisting the class teacher & therapists
Help to maintain the learning environment & assist with administration
Assisting with 1:1 or group support as needed
Whole class support in lessons
As a Learning Support Assistant you will have:
Confidence, enthusiasm & a passion for learning
Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASC
Ability to promote & sustain a nurturing environment
Ability to support & attend residential school trips as required

Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure each child receives the appropriate care and education.

Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young adults with complex needs, including autism, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
A strong understanding of supporting students with both verbal and non-verbal communication.
Willingness to carry out personal care duties, ensuring a dignified approach.
A patient, empathetic, and flexible attitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with other professionals, staff, and parents.
Commitment to working 5 days per week.
