Communication Support Worker
Position: Communication Support Worker
Role type : Long-term/Permanent
Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 40 weeks per year
Location: Haringey
Parker Smith Inclusion is excited to announce an opportunity to join the dedicated team at a specialist school for deaf children. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Communication Support Worker (CSW) to provide vital support to the students.
Role Overview:
As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience of deaf pupils. Your responsibilities include providing communication and learning support, ensuring the effective delivery of lessons in accordance with each pupil’s EHCP, and facilitating communication within the classroom.
Key Duties:
- Provide communication and learning support to deaf pupils during lessons, group activities, school events, and residential trips.
- Offer interpreting and communication support, adjusting your methods to meet the diverse needs of pupils and lesson objectives.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to plan lessons and tailor materials for individual pupils.
- Supervise students during breaks, activities, and educational trips, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
- Participate in planning, recording, and reporting on pupil progress, contributing to annual reviews and parent communications.
- Engage in professional development opportunities, including training sessions and BSL classes.
What We Look For:
· English & Maths GCSE: C or above
· BSL Level 3 Qualification or above
· Previous experience working with children
· Voice to Sign and Sign to voice proficiency
- The ability to adapt quickly to the varying needs of students within a collaborative team environment.
- Previous experience working with children, ideally in an educational context, is advantageous.
- A positive approach towards continuous learning and professional development.
