Salary: £90 - £110 per day PAYE
Hours: Full-time
About the Behaviour Mentor / Learning Mentor position
Are you passionate about supporting young people facing significant challenges? We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Behaviour Mentor / Learning Mentor to join our friendly and supportive SEN school in Merton, South West London. This role involves working with children who have been excluded from mainstream schools and exhibit challenging behaviour, social-emotional mental health needs, and come from vulnerable backgrounds.
Behaviour Mentor / Learning Mentor's key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and group support to students, helping them to manage their behaviour and emotions.
- Develop and implement individual behaviour plans tailored to each student's needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage their personal and academic growth.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Engage and motivate students using creative approaches, such as sports, music, drama, or art.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the team and parents/carers.
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Behaviour Mentor / Learning Mentor's requirements
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people from vulnerable backgrounds.
- Previous experience working with children displaying challenging behaviour and social, emotional, and mental health issues.
- Experience in youth work, sports, music, drama, or art is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
