A special school based in Newham are expanding their school come September by four new classes with their focal point on autism, complex needs and behaviour challenges, a mix of primary & secondary classes and they will need passionate, energetic and committed support members of staff to support in every new class.
The school is currently on a temporary site with a new permanent building being built and expected to be complete come 2026 meaning you will be part of the journey and experience with them!
Working as part of the team means you will have on-going support, clear pathways, opportunities for teacher training pathways and extra training courses always on hand to make sure you are supporting and meeting the needs of each student in the most inclusive way.
This school is open to meeting with graduates, volunteers and experienced teaching assistants, all they ask if for the passion and commitment to special education needs and an open mind. Key Responsibilities:
Support students with autism and complex needs, including those with behavioural challenges.
Assist with classroom activities, providing one-to-one and small group support.
Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
Provide assistance with personal hygiene needs where required.
Foster a safe, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCO to support student progress.
Participate in trial days as part of the interview process.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential).
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A passion for education and helping children thrive.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not mandatory.
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Training in positive handling, early intervention, and supporting personal hygiene needs is valued.

Additional Information:
The school is expanding with four new classes on its current temporary site, with a permanent site expected in 2026.
The expansion includes both primary (Years 5-6) and secondary classes (up to Year 11).
No parking is available on-site.
Interviews are planned between late April and early May, and school visits are encouraged.
The school is open to temp-to-perm arrangements, typically over two terms or 100 days.
