We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a specialisation in working with students with autism. As a vital member of the team, you will be responsible for providing personalised support and assistance to students with autism spectrum condition (ASC) within the classroom setting. Your role will involve collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with autism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1-1 support to students with autism in various classroom activities, including social and behavioural interventions.
- Follow individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment by promoting positive social interactions, communication skills, and self-regulation strategies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student performance, behaviour, and progress towards goals.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to working with students with autism.
Qualifications:
- Preferably a Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, special education, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with autism, personally or professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with individuals with special needs.
