About the Role
SEN Teaching Assistant
Wandsworth, South West London
£90 - £100 PAYE per day, depending on experience
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4pm

I am working with a lovely SEN school in Wandsworth, which provides creative education to children who have been diagnosed with Autism/ASC, complex needs, VI, HI, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone seeking practical and clinical experience in special needs education.
SEN Teaching Assistant requirements
- Passion for working with young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development
- Ideally, previous experience (formal or informal) supporting children with autism or other special educational needs.
- Health and Social Care desirable
- A proactive and positive individual who is always striving to meet children's learning needs.
- Ability to build rapport with children
- Willingness to learn and partake in any additional training
- Strong behaviour management skills, ability to de-escalate situations and give strong direction
- A good sense of humour and an optimistic outlook
What you can expect as a SEN Teaching Assistant
- You will be expected to communicate with families, social workers and therapy teams.
- You will be responsible for leading play-based activities, developing social skills and building confidence.
- As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be to support a child with special educational needs. However, the role will vary from day to day; you will be expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations.
- For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path.
- Continued Professional Development—SEND schools and APs continually train their staff to help them support their children's needs. You will become an expert in your field.
- You will have an opportunity to make a huge social impact. As a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, you would change the path of a child's life.
Pay
- We understand that pay is extremely important and it must be clear and simple! For that reason, we have chosen to pay our staff via PAYE only. Quoted rates are gross pay, and your pay will never involve the employer's NI deductions or admin fees.
- Just as roles vary, so will the remuneration, depending on the role requirements and your experience. You will often see these roles advertised as daily rates. Please note that we pay PAYE only, and rates will vary from £80-100 per day, depending on the role and your experience.
